SCORE STUDY IN NEW YORK CITY

Three days of intensive Score Study in Manhattan.  Alice shares her experience with many styles of music, and discusses the process from the composer's intention to the written page. 

 
The musical materials studied in past programs have included Bach, Brahms, Durufle, Schubert and others, as well as works by Alice Parker that are in the genre of the composer being highlighted.  Styles range from chant to anthems, cantatas and masses.  For conductors, church and school musicians, singers, organists, students, and lovers of song.

 

The week begins with a SPIRITUALS SING in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr at the Park Avenue Christian Church, NYC, 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19th (optional).  Classes will run from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. on Monday through Wednesday.   

 

 

Minimum class size 4, no maximum.  

 

Seminars will be held at the Park Avenue Christian Church at Park Ave and 85th St. in New York City.

 

In the evenings explore theater, opera, museums, Broadway shows, or restaurants.

 

Fee:  $300 

 

Note:

Participants are responsible for making their own housing arrangements.
